Description:
The Downy Woodpecker is the smallest woodpecker in North America and a frequent visitor to backyard feeders. These energetic birds climb tree trunks and branches searching for insects, and they readily stop by feeders for suet, sunflower seeds, and peanuts.

Nesting:

Identification:
