Description:

The Tufted Titmouse is a small gray songbird with a distinctive crest and large dark eyes. These curious and energetic birds are common visitors to backyard feeders, especially where sunflower seeds and peanuts are offered. Titmice often grab a seed and fly off to a nearby branch to crack it open.

Nesting:

Identification:

A small gray songbird with a pointed crest, large dark eyes, and pale underside with a subtle peach wash along the sides. Males and females look almost identical. The black patch just above the bill helps distinguish it from chickadees.

A clear whistled song often described as “peter peter peter.” Their voice is bright and repetitive and commonly heard throughout wooded neighborhoods.
